Markerless Motion Capture for Humans in Video

چکیده

This proposal concerns automating the motion capture of humans. Motion capture is defined as “The creation of a 3D representation of a live performance” in the book Understanding Motion Capture for Computer Animation and Video Games by Alberto Menache [20]. Specifically, we propose to develop a new framework for human motion capture based on recent advances in Bayesian object detection and tracking. Motion capture of humans is a key operation in film and game production, and is also useful for medical applications, ergonomics, and virtual reality. At present it is an expensive process, requiring special equipment and much user intervention. The proposal is to investigate new, state of the art, methods in tracking and object detection to obviate the need for specialized environments or equipment.

Feasibility of a single camera markerless motion capture system to accurately measure flexion-extension

INTRODUCTION Traditional motion capture techniques use markers to measure movement. However, markers are prone to soft tissue artifact and experimental error [1] as well as possible impedance to natural motion. Another significant challenge is the ability to use optical motion capture systems in a variety of natural setting such as a patient’s home, on the sports field, or in public. This has l...

Video Segmentation for Markerless Motion Capture in Unconstrained Environments

Segmentation is a first and important step in video-based motion capture applications. A lack of constraints can make this process daunting and difficult to achieve. We propose a technique that makes use of an improved JSEG procedure in the context of markerless motion capture for performance evaluation of human beings in unconstrained environments. In the proposed algorithm a non-parametric cl...

Articulated Object Reconstruction and Markerless Motion Capture from Depth Video

We present an algorithm for acquiring the 3D surface geometry and motion of a dynamic piecewise-rigid object using a single depth video camera. The algorithm identifies and tracks the rigid components in each frame, while accumulating the geometric information acquired over time, possibly from different viewpoints. The algorithm also reconstructs the dynamic skeleton of the object, thus can be ...

Towards Model-free Markerless Motion Capture

An approach for model-free markerless motion capture of humans is presented. This approach is centered on generating underlying nonlinear axes (or a skeleton curve) from a volume of a human subject. Human volumes are captured from multiple calibrated cameras. We describe the use of skeleton curves for determining the kinematic posture of a human captured volume. Our motion capture uses a skelet...

Automated markerless extraction of walking people using deformable contour models

We develop a new automated markerless motion capture system for the analysis of walking people. We employ global evidence gathering techniques guided by biomechanical analysis to robustly extract articulated motion. This forms a basis for new deformable contour models, using local image cues to capture shape and motion at a more detailed level. We extend the greedy snake formulation to include ...
